The Utah Department of Transportation announced more than 100 construction projects for 2015.
On Friday, they highlighted the areas that will impact drivers the most.
“This is really an exciting time of year for us here at UDOT. We are really watching our construction program for the year,” said Carlos Braceras, executive director at UDOT. “We really have a very strong vision to keep Utah moving,”
The projects range from repairing bridges to widening lanes. The largest construction zone will be at the Point of the Mountain. The $252 million project will widen I-15 between Draper and Lehi.
“If you have driven that corridor in the morning or in the afternoon, extremely congested. What we're going to do here is add one or two lanes depending on where you are at in the corridor,” said Tim Rose, project director at UDOT for the Point Project.
Construction is slated to start on March 1. It is expected to impact more than 165,000 drivers that travel the corridor every day.
Other construction areas include the Bangerter and Redwood interchange which is being reconfigured.
A spokesperson with UDOT said their goal is to improve Utah’s roadways to get them ready for the state’s growing population.
Additional information on the construction projects can be found here on the UDOT website.
