SALT LAKE CITY – After deliberating for six hours Thursday night, a jury found a woman accused of killing her boyfriend while he was holding their 4-month-old child guilty of murder and obstruction of justice.

Thu Huong Thi Nguyen was arrested after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death on September 2, 2013. The man was allegedly holding the couple’s 4-month-old child when the stabbing occurred at a Labor Day barbecue.

Nguyen was originally facing a third charge, domestic violence in the presence of a child, but that charge was dismissed without prejudice, according to court documents. A jury found her guilty of murder and obstruction of justice, and she is scheduled to be sentenced May 4 at 2 p.m.

In previous court appearances, at least two eyewitness reported seeing Nguyn stab Thai Van Le in the back, and one witnesses stated the woman was screaming obscenities at the man before she stabbed him with a steak knife.

The woman allegedly dragged the body down a set of concrete stairs at the apartment complex in West Valley City where the stabbing occurred and put the body into a vehicle before police arrived.
