SALT LAKE CITY -- Bullying is an ongoing problem throughout schools across the country, and Saturday Playworks held their Fourth Annual Race to Reduce Bullying at Wheeler Farm in Salt Lake City.
Event coordinators said they had to turn people away after reaching their maximum cap of 500 registrants. Playworks is an anti-bullying organization that provides social and emotional life skills to at-risk elementary school children.
“We teach kids what it’s like to create a team, what it’s like to resolve conflict, what it’s like to channel your super powers as kids have, as our founder says, channel them for good instead of channel them for not so good,” said Geoff Doiran, who is the development director for Playworks in Utah.
Doiran said their bullying reduction rate is 43 percent nationally and even higher throughout Utah. For more information about Playworks, visit their website.
