Breastfeeding

The Senate has given preliminary approval to adding breastfeeding moms to the state’s nondiscrimination law.

Lawmakers voted 20-7 tonight in favor of the measure. Sen. Margaret Dayton spoke against it, not because she’s opposed to motherhood but disagrees with so-called “special rights” for people. The bill has one more vote in the Senate before going to the governor for action.

 Seat belts

The Senate has approved a bill that would make it a primary offense to not wear your seat belt.

The bill passed on a 17-11 vote and now goes on to the governor for his signature.
