SALT LAKE CITY -- The Gallup organization says Americans spend, on average, $86 a day, not counting mortgage or rent, utilities, car payments or other monthly bills.
"Holy crap! That's a lot of money," said Autumn Anderson when told of the numbers.
Anderson guessed the average American would spend about $30.
Gallup breaks down the numbers between those earning $90,000 or more each year and those making less than $90,000.
Americans in the higher income bracket spent $144 per day on average, while those earning less averaged $75.
