‘Quakie Haven’ fire near Fish Lake grows to 100 acres

FISHLAKE NATIONAL FOREST, Utah — A wildfire that destroyed two cabins and forced a road closure in the Fishlake National Forest area Tuesday has grown to approximately 100 acres.

According to the National Forest Service, the “Quakie Haven Wildfire” is being fueled by sage brush and conifer and its cause is still under investigation.

Fire investigators said the wildfire is threatening 20 structures and they described the fire’s behavior as “smoldering and creeping.”

Firefighters are focusing on securing, flanking and reinforcing the fire line Wednesday.
