Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams has issued a recall over concerns of possible listeria Thursday.
The Ohio-based ice cream company is recalling all products with the Jeni’s brand name, including items purchased online.
Numerous stores in Utah carry the brand including Harmons, Whole Foods and Super Target.
A news release from Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream said it is not aware of any illnesses reported.
“We have decided to recall everything currently on retailer shelves, and we are closing our scoop shops until we are 100 percent confident every item we sell is safe,” said John Lowe, CEO of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.
“We have called in experts to help us find the root cause. We will be working with our suppliers to determine if the bacteria was introduced by one of the ingredients we use. We will not reopen the kitchen until we can ensure the safety of our customers,” Lowe said.
Listeria is a bacterium that causes vomiting, fever and weakness. It can be serious for pregnant women, the elderly and children.
According to the company, the Nebraska Department of Agriculture discovered the contamination while testing a random sample.
Customers should throw away the products or take them to the store where they were purchased for a refund.

On Monday, Blue Bell recalled all of its products after two samples tested positive for listeria. Earlier this month, Sabra issued a recall for 30,000 cases of hummus for possible contamination as well.
