BOUNTIFUL, Utah -- Two young men are facing charges of hazing and sexual battery after an investigation into Bountiful High School's wrestling team.
Lamar Gimmeson and Christopher Fletcher, both 18 years old, face charges of sexual battery as a class A misdemeanor and hazing as a class B misdemeanor.
The Davis County School District says Gimmeson had already graduated. Officials said the alleged hazing incident happened on a school bus in December when the Bountiful wrestling team was returning from a tournament in Farmington.
Chris Williams, Davis County School District, spoke about the incident.
"Unfortunately, when I heard about it, it sickened me,” he said. “And when I read about it, certainly those feelings didn’t change. It's something that should never occur. Why it occurred, I don't know. It certainly is not fun and games. We take it very seriously.”
The Davis County School District said 25 team members were on the bus, but only five students had action taken against them. They said administrators have met with parents, students and faculty about the incident.
