TOOELE COUNTY, Utah — A 3-year-old girl is dead after being accidentally run over by a family member late Monday night, Tooele officials confirmed Tuesday.
The accident occurred at residence in the area of 250 S. 8th Street in east Wendover.
Tooele County Sheriff Paul Wimmer said there was large family gathering going on at the time. At about 10:15 p.m., people started leaving the house to go home or get food.
As one of the family members got into their vehicle, Wimmer said, he didn’t notice the toddler in front of his car and ended up driving over the top of the child.
The 3-year-old has been identified as Vanessa Gomez.
No charges have been filed. This looks to be a terrible accident, Wimmer said.
East Wendover is on the Utah side of the Utah/Nevada border. The town is nearly two hours away from Tooele County.
