Man faces aggravated assault charge after allegedly running girlfriend over

SALT LAKE CITY — A man accused of intentionally running his girlfriend over with a car and then fleeing the scene has been charged Friday, and the counts he faces include aggravated assault.

Anthony Vigil, 29, allegedly ran his 25-year-old girlfriend over during an argument Thursday in the area of 151 West Mead Ave., and about an hour after the incident he was arrested by South Salt Lake police.

Vigil has been charged with aggravated assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child.

The woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to a hospital Thursday, and on Friday her friends and family said her condition has improved and she is expected to survive.
