Reservations increase at state parks in Utah as sunny weather arrives

Posted

SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah State Parks got more than 3.7 million visitors in 2014, with sunny spring and summer weekends making a big contribution to the total.

As the rainiest May on record ends with what is expected to be a sunny weekend, some of the parks are already full.

The rangers at East Canyon State Park say they were completely booked for the weekend, and the weekends in June are beginning to look the same.

Gary Ross, a camper who already staked out his reservation, knows why.

"We have been indoors for about a month because of this rain, and although we really enjoyed it... it's about time, about time for the sun to come," Ross said.
