ROY, Utah – The 82-year-old man with Alzheimer’s who was found unconscious near the Utah/Idaho border Monday has died, according to Roy police.
John Thurgood, who went missing from his Roy home Sunday, was found 50 miles outside Park Valley, police say. Thurgood was was found by Union Pacific crew.
The 82-year-old man was taken to Snowville then transported to Ogden Regional Hospital where he later died.
Thurgood disappeared with his dog “Mello,” a tan Chihuahua. The dog has also been found.
Authorities said Thurgood left home on a previous occasion and was later found in Nevada without gas, water or food.
He had no recollection of where he was or how he got there.
