CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It’s rude to interrupt someone’s meal so a North Carolina family patiently waited until a snake finished eating what it wanted in their kitchen to usher the reptile out of the house.

The video above shows you the family’s reaction when they found an unexpected dinner guest hiding in their spice cabinet.

Homeowner Laura Neff  told WSOC a loud bang led her to make the discovery.

“I guess trying to get its head out, it knocked this off,” she told WSOC. “Other than that, I couldn’t believe how graceful it was for such a big four-foot snake. Nothing else was moved at all. It was fascinating.”

Her husband shot cell phone video of the snake devouring an egg, staying cool as cucumber.

Neff says he knew the snake wasn’t poisonous so he was able to stay calm.

“A lot of people on social media have asked,’How did you stay so calm,’ she said. “I think that helped both of us knowing the snake doesn’t care about us. It’s here for an egg. It just wants a meal.”

The Neffs said they didn’t mind if the hungry house guest ate and ran, in fact, they preferred it.

After the snake was stuffed, the couple grabbed the closest tools they could find and helped the reptile out of their home.

“It took a good 15 minutes or so to get all of its bulk maneuvered slowly underneath the brooms and out the window,” Neff said.

Always minding their manners, the couple then went outside to say goodbye… and make sure their friend was really on his way.

Neff said they “watched it do its thing and slither off in to the sunset.”
