Steak Bites with Garlic Aioli (06.23.15)

Garlic Aioli:

  • 1 large egg yolk
  • 2 tsp. lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp. Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, grated
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste


  • 4 boneless sirloin steaks
  • 1 cup soy sauce
  • 3 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, chopped
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

For the garlic aioli, whisk together the yolk, lemon juice, and mustard in a medium bowl. Stream in the oil in a very slow stream or a few drops at a time, whisking constantly, until all the oil is incorporated and mixture is emulsified. Add salt and pepper, to tatse. Cover and place in refrigerator until steak is ready to serve.

For the steak bites, cut the steak into bite-sized (about 1-inch) pieces. Combine all the marinade ingredients in a large sealable baggie. Add the meat, shake to coat. Marinate for 30 minutes.
