Rita’s stops selling frozen custard because of egg shortage

A popular company for frozen treats says it is no longer serving  frozen custard because of the egg shortage.

Rita’s Italian Ice announced on its website it will be replacing the custard with soft-serve ice cream until eggs are available.

Company officials said the egg shortage hatched from the avian bird flu hitting hens across the country.

Rita’s website states:

“We will bring back our award-winning Frozen Custard as soon as we know that we have access to a sustainable supply of eggs. In the meantime, we’ll continue offering our soft-serve ice cream so guests can still enjoy their favorite ‘cool treats.'”
