Homemade Ice Cream Toppings (7.23.15)

Creamy Chocolate Caramel Sauce

  • 2/3 cup whipping cream
  • 10 tablespoons butter
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 4oz semisweet baking chocolate, chopped
  • 1 gallon Red Button Vintage Creamery Ice Cream, any flavor

In medium size saucepan up to medium heat, combine whipping cream, butter and brown sugar. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring constantly, until mixture comes to a full boil.

Add chocolate; cook about 2 minutes, stirring constantly until chocolate is melted. Chill sauce or serve warm. Add desired amount of sauce over two scoops of ice cream.

Maple Nut Cream Sauce

  • 1 cup pure maple syrup
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup pecans, almonds or walnuts, chopped
  • 1 gallon Red Button Vintage Creamery Ice Cream, any flavor

In a medium saucepan, combine maple syrup, cream, and butter. Bring to a boil; stir well. Reduce heat to medium-low. Continue cooking for 4-5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Note, if mixture boils too high in the pan, reduce heat and stir as necessary. . Chill sauce or serve warm.

Add desired amount of sauce over two scoops of ice cream.
