WENDOVER, Utah – A body found in a Utah landfill 40 years ago has finally been identified.

Investigators said DNA analysis ultimately led investigators to find out it was David Arthur Stack.

He was 19 years old when he left his home in Broomfield, Colorado, in June 1976, hoping to catch a ride to California.

Authorities said he was planning to travel to his siblings’ homes in Truckee or Berkeley but he never reached either destination.

His body was found in the Wendover landfill but went unidentified for decades.
