BOUNTIFUL, Utah -- A man is dead and another man is in the Davis County Jail facing murder charges after police responded to reports of a fight in progress in Bountiful Wednesday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Bountiful Police Department, officers responded around 12:44 p.m. after a 911 call was made about a fight in progress on the 3500 block of Lexington Drive in Bountiful.

The caller reported that one male was on top of the other in a front yard of a residence, and when officers arrived they found the victim and suspect near a vehicle in front of the home.

Medical personal responded along with a helicopter, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect, 35-year-old Heneli (aka Henry) Kalainisi Kaufusi, was booked into the Davis County Jail on charges of murder, according to the press release.

Investigators stated the victim's ex-wife and their three children reside at the home with Kaufusi. It is not clear what sparked the fight, and specific details regarding the cause and the manner of the victim's death were not immediately clear.

Travis Gurney, who lives next door, says the suspect is now married to the woman who lives in the home.

“It’s pretty surreal honestly," Gurney said. "It’s extremely unexpected. He was a very nice man, family man. Someone who I’d never expect it from, so it’s pretty shocking."

Gurney is also shocked that something this violent would happen in his family-friendly neighborhood.

He said: “I got here five minutes after the fight had broken up, and the cops had arrived, and I wonder if I had gotten here ten minutes sooner, could I have said something to him, reasoned with him, talked to him: Could I have stopped it?”

Neighbors say four kids live in the house, and that the victim is the father of the two older children and the suspect is the father of the two younger ones.
