SALT LAKE CITY - A Salt Lake woman got quite the scare when she woke up to someone trying to climb in through her bedroom window.
Officers said someone tried to break into the woman's home through the window right above her bed 2 a.m. Wednesday.
Police said the woman told them she jumped out of bed, slammed down the window and heard someone running away.
By the time officers arrived, the suspect was gone and they were not able to find anyone suspicious in the area.
Authorities are now searching for a suspect and using this incident to warn others.
Police said the weather has been ideal to turn off the air conditioning and sleep with the windows open, however, authorities are asking you to take precautions if you do that.
Officers suggest placing a rod or stick in the slightly open window to ensure it cannot be opened all the way, because criminals are always looking for an opportunity.
