(CNN) — One disabled veteran has a famous rapper to thank for making her holiday season much easier.
Single mother Deirdre Plater of Palmetto, Georgia, has been having trouble making ends meet. 2 Chainz, a native of nearby College Park, Georgia, learned of her predicament and paid her a visit on Saturday.
But he didn’t come alone: the rapper brought new furniture for Plater’s apartment and offered to pay her rent for the year.
2 Chainz (who has had a few run-ins with the law, full disclosure) posted on Instagram about the importance of giving back, remembering that he grew up poor.
In another post, he said it’s “important to give back when you’ve got it.”

2 Chainz heads up the T.R.U. Foundation, a charitable organization, and used the proceeds for the “Dabbing Santa” sweaters he is selling online to help pay for the furniture and rent.
