Dr. Rohn Rigby with Ogden Clinic says it was a trip to the emergency room for chest pain that made him decide he needed to lose weight. He says the process is just what you expect -- he decided to take care of his body, exercise and eat healthy. Doing just that, he was able to go from 250 pounds down to 170 pounds. He says he takes it day by day. He has tips for others out there who hope to avoid holiday weight gain.
5 Tips to Maintain Weight During the Holidays
1. Plan ahead for parties and gifts . Studies show the average American gains 10 pounds from Halloween to New Year`s.
2. Ask: Why am I eating? (hungry, bored, social pressure, thirsty)
3. Think: Food is fuel. Only take what is needed in the tank.
4. Drink more water (Divide your weight in half for the amount of ounces of water you should be drinking.)
5. Get enough sleep.
