A video captured by a dash camera and posted on YouTube Wednesday is an eye-opening lesson in the importance of cleaning snow and ice off your car after a storm.
In the video, a sheet of ice flies off the top of an SUV travelling at what appears to be freeway speeds, and moments later the sheet impacts the driver’s windshield, cracking the glass.
The YouTube description states the driver believes braking harder could have prevented the impact, but he said he initially thought the ice was going to miss his vehicle. The video was shot at 8:45 a.m. on December 30 along I-495S at mile marker 112.8. I-495S is an interstate in Massachusetts.
