ALBERTA, Canada - It's a mother's natural instinct, to come running when she hears her babies crying.

But what if they aren't her babies?

It apparently doesn't matter for these Canadian pups.

Barkers Pet Motel and Grooming posted about the event on its Facebook page saying they had never seen anything like it.

Two new puppies were spending their first night at the foster care center.

They were frightened and crying and when a dog named Maggie heard their little cries, her motherly instincts kicked in.

The post said Maggie broke out of her kennel to comfort and cuddle the crying pups, even though they weren't her own.

The groomer said Maggie had recently had puppies and they had already been adopted.

She took over as foster mother and now all three pups are allowed to stay together at the facility.
