SALT LAKE CITY — A new bill in the Utah State Legislature would allow you to kill an animal that you hit with your car, to end its suffering.

Rep. David Lifferth (R-Eagle Mountain) unveiled House Bill 284 on Thursday. The bill states that if an animal is seriously injured by a motor vehicle, a person can kill it and not face a charge “if the person has the means, skill, and intent to destroy the animal humanely.”

The bill was introduced in the Utah State Legislature.
