This is how the NFL draws the ‘magic yellow line’ in televised games

If you’ve ever watched a football game on TV, you’ve probably seen the “magic yellow line” that appears on the field to help you track what’s happening in the game.  Players seem to be standing right on top of it, even though it isn’t really there.

It’s an impressive technical feat that relies on several different systems working together, adding less than one second of a delay to the live broadcast.
