A father in Idaho is warning skiers and snowboarders about the dangers of tree wells and riding alone, and he posted a video titled “Ethan’s Near Death Experience” to make his point.

According to the post from Winston Gross, the incident occurred as the pair were skiing at Brundage Mountain in Idaho. At about 1:30 into the video, the boy can be heard screaming and the father quickly moves to the base of a tree to pull his son from the snow.

The father posted the video along with this message: “All, I’ve decide to reactivate my Facebook page only to share with you “THE” most frightening experience I have had as a father, and the dangers of tree wells. What you’re about to see is a very real threat and there are many who die each year. Fortunately I was there to pull my son out. Please, take the time to know the dangers around you. Most importantly, never ski alone.”
