Drones face a crackdown in Utah under new bill

Posted

SALT LAKE CITY — A new bill in the legislature would crack down on where drones can and can’t go.

Senate Bill 210, sponsored by Sen. Wayne Harper, R-Taylorsville, prohibits unmanned aircraft from trespassing, violating people’s privacy, interfering with emergency responders, or committing voyeurism. The bill, unveiled Monday at the Utah State Legislature, would allow law enforcement to take steps to “neutralize” a drone violating the law.

The bill also establishes criminal penalties, making violations a misdmemeanor crime.
