ROY, Utah — A woman from Roy was arrested and booked into jail after she came to the jail to bail out her husband and then refused to leave a secure area.

According to the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, 26-year-old Merisa Byington of Roy came to a secure area of the Weber County Sheriff’s Office Complex February 20 and had entered the sally-port of the prisoner intake area.

Byington was demanding to see her husband so she could bail him out of jail. Staff asked the woman repeatedly to leave the secure area, but the woman refused. She was told she would be arrested for trespass, but according to police she persisted.

The woman was arrested and booked on a charge of trespassing. She is being held on a $680 bond, “in a separate housing unit from her husband,” according to police.
