Barricaded suspect surrenders to Salt Lake City police

SALT LAKE CITY — Police in Salt Lake City stated Thursday afternoon they were evacuating a street as officers responded to a barricaded suspect considered armed and dangerous, but a short time later they reported the man had surrendered.

FOX 13 News first heard report of the incident around 4:45 p.m., and police stated they were responding to 140 South Hawkes Court (near 600 East).

Hawkes Court was evacuated, police stated, but by just after 5 p.m. police posted an update, saying the suspect came out of the home and was arrested. There were no injuries reported.

Police stated initially the suspect was considered armed and dangerous. Police at the scene tell FOX 13 News the man has several felony arrest warrants and a history of carrying weapons.
