SUNSET, Utah — A suspect is still at large after an armed robbery forced officials to close a road in Sunset and lock down a nearby day care.

The incident started at The Hi Hat Diner, 1147 N Main St. in Sunset. Eli Zondo, who owns the restaurant, told FOX 13 a man armed with a gun was crouching at the back door. Zondo said the suspect told him and an associate to get down on the floor, which they did.

“Until it happens to you, you really, emotionally don’t realize how devastating – how it is. It’s tough, it’s tough,” Zondo said.

Tweets from the Utah Department of Transportation said the resulting police activity forced officials to close Main St. between 650 N and 800 N for about 20 minutes, between 8:30 and 8:50 Thursday morning.

Police were also seen outside a nearby day care for a short time.
