SALT LAKE CITY – A local father is getting world-wide attention for his latest photo-editing project starring his 6-month-old son, and the mischievous little leprechaun is making folks smile just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.
The photo project features Alan Lawrence’s young son, Rockwell, getting up to some leprechaun tricks, and the project has gone viral online.
“We had no idea that this would happen,” Lawrence told FOX 13.
He said it began with the family brainstorming ideas.
“We'd sit together as a family, maybe at dinner or something,” he said.
That humble start has sparked a world-wide following on social media.
"It just took off, people loved it and started sharing it,” Lawrence said.
This isn’t the first time Lawrence has enlisted Rockwell as model in creative projects, as he’s previously done Elf on the Shelf and Cupid themed shoots.
“We thought, ‘What if we kept this going, and we just continue this story of this elf that's been in our house and Santa didn’t pick him up and now he's kind of exploring these other holidays?’ And that's what led us into St. Patrick's Day and the leprechaun,” he said.
Lawrence said the magic of the photos is achieved with a simple costume and some photo editing. The family said they feel blessed that so many people have responded and given them the opportunity to connect.
“To know that someone across the world, or just down the street or something, that a picture of one of my kids can make them smile,” Lawrence said.
He said they don’t plan to stop the creativity anytime soon.
"We plan on continuing to do this for the rest of the year and just have fun with it as long as we can,” Lawrence said.
Independence Day is next on their calendar, and Lawrence said their plan is to dress Rockwell as Uncle Sam.
