SALT LAKE CITY -- Light rain Tuesday morning turned to heavy snowfall, contributing to fender-benders and slideoffs around the Salt Lake Valley.
The change in weather happened toward the end of the morning commute, around 8:30. The Utah Department of Transportation activated some of its snowplows to clear roadways of springtime snow.
UDOT officials said Tuesday's storm serves as a reminder that weather can change quickly and drivers should be prepared for it.
"Already, I think, some of us have our sights set on spring and summer. But, we need to remember to slow down," said UDOT spokesman John Gleason.
