HOWELL, Utah — An attempted child abduction reported Monday morning was only a misunderstanding and there was not an attempt to abduct children, according to a Facebook post by the Box Elder County Sheriff’s Department.
“The individuals involved in the reported attempted abduction have been identified and Detectives have positively determined that this was not, repeat not, an attempt to abduct the children. The individuals are local residents and the entire situation was a misunderstanding. More information is being gathered as of this writing but again; there was no attempt to abduct the children in Howell,” the Facebook post said.
An earlier news release indicated a 4-year-old boy and an 11-year-old girl were playing in their yard Sunday evening when they were approached by two men in a truck, telling them to get inside.
The Box Elder County Sheriff’s Department stressed Monday that this was not an attempted child abduction.
