Windows shot out in at least 10 cars during vandalism spree in Millcreek

MILLCREEK, Utah – At least 10 car owners are facing repairs after vandals shot out their windows overnight in a neighborhood off of 3300 South.

Unified Police Department personnel say the targets appear random, but all of the incidents happened in the same area between 3300 South and 4000 South near 3300 East.

Homeowners awoke Saturday and found the damage. Detective Jared Richardson said it appears the person or group of people used a pellet or BB gun to shoot out the car windows.

“We’re very concerned that these people are just blatantly going around shooting a pellet or BB gun in any kind of direction,” Richardson said. “That could have ricocheted and struck somebody and hurt them.”

One of the victims, Scott Anderson, said at first he believed it was done to burglarize the car, but he said after checking his car he found that nothing was missing.

Neighbors told FOX 13 they’ve seen random acts of vandalism in their neighborhood before, but never to this extent.

“It’s a bummer when you have to pay for a repair on something that definitely didn’t need to happen,” Anderson said.

Detectives are investigating to see if perhaps home surveillance video caught a car or person on camera. Anyone who saw or heard anything the night of April 8 is asked to contact Unified Police at 801-743-7000.
