KEARNS, Utah – In an effort to keep people safe on the roads Unified Police Department teamed up with other local law enforcement agencies to carry out a DUI checkpoint.
It started on Friday night and ended at 2 a.m. Saturday morning.
The checkpoint took place on a part of Bangerter Highway near Kearns where police stopped drivers who seemed to show any signs of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
As a result of the DUI checkpoint, police ended up arresting 5 people for driving under the influence of alcohol, serving 15 misdemeanor citations and 14 traffic citations.
Officials also said that they had 1 weapons violation and some of the citations they issued were for drivers having open containers in their cup holders.
