MAGNA, Utah — Earlier this week, FOX 13's Todd Tanner reported on the history of Saltair at the Great Salt Lake.
Saltair was the backdrop for the 1962 horror film "Carnival of Souls," and it was also a filming location for "The Giant Brine Shrimp," in which the beast from the film's title emerges from the Great Salt Lake and terrorizes Salt Lake City.
The film was made in the early 1970's by Mike Cassidy, who has since passed away. Cassidy's campy film is a localized tribute to famous monster movies "Godzilla" and "King Kong". But how would the good people of Utah react to a sci-fi monster threat?
