Former Massachusetts Governor and presidential candidate Mitt Romney took to Twitter Wednesday to express his hope Libertarian candidates will be included in the upcoming presidential debates.

Romney tweeted, “I hope voters get to see former GOP Governors Gary Johnson and Bill Weld on the debate stages this fall.”

The first debate is scheduled for September 23. Johnson and Weld have been working to increase their poll numbers enough to earn a spot on the debate stage. The threshold is 15% support.

The pair have devoted $2 million to radio advertising, and they have also bought TV ads, primarily in western states.
