A “stranger” on a Southwest Airlines flight, who recently stepped up to help a pregnant mom, is being called the “real MVP.”

The man, who was a passenger on a Sept. 5 flight from Minneapolis to Atlanta, offered to help soothe a crying baby when he noticed the child’s pregnant mom was traveling alone.

Andrea Byrd was also on the flight and shared the story on Facebook:

“…on my flight back to Georgia I saw this man, who was a stranger to this woman, offer to help her because she was pregnant and alone on the flight and her son was upset and fussy. He did not complain, he just told her that he was a DAD, and wanted to help her so she could rest. This MAN walked the aisle most of the flight from Minneapolis to Atlanta comforting this womans son as if he was his own…I was in tears…not because he was white and she was black…but because it showed me today that there are still GOOD people out there in a world full of turmoil. Big UPS to this DAD and all the DADS out there…you are the real MVPS!”

The mom, Monica Nelson, spoke with TODAY and said she was nervous while traveling alone with 20-month-old Luke. She said the stranger walked up and down the aisle several times while holding the boy.

“He just kind of swooped in,” she told TODAY. “You usually don’t see things like that. It was so sweet.”

Nelson said the man’s first name is Reid and he also has a son named Luke.

Andrea Byrd’s Facebook post has been shared almost 100,000 times.
