OGDEN, Utah — Authorities have made an arrest in a shooting that injured one man in West Haven last week.
Jes Robert Vollmer, 38, was booked Thursday into the Weber County Jail on charges of attempted aggravated murder. The 40-year-old male victim remains hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The shooting occurred on Nov. 25. Lt. Nate Hutchinson, spokesman for Weber County Sheriff’s Office, said the victim had gone over to the West Haven residence, located on the 1000 block of Wilson Lane, to visit someone. It is unknown who he meant to see.
Vollmer’s relatives leave at the home and he occasionally stays at the house, Hutchinson said.
When the victim arrived at the residence, Hutchinson said, a confrontation broke out between the two men and the victim was eventually shot.
The motive of the shooting is still under investigation.
Vollmer was found at home in Ogden. A handgun used in the alleged shooting was also located in a vehicle in the suspect’s possession, Hutchinson said.
Vollmer was also booked on charges of possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, possession of a controlled substance, failure to appear on citation and obstruction of justice.
