SALT LAKE CITY — Officials are still investigating the cause of a water main break at 500 South and 900 East.
The break is reported to have happened around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday. The intersection will be blocked off all night and possibly tomorrow for repairs. Public Utilities Public Information Officer Holly Mullen said the next step will be fixing the main and covering up the hole with asphalt. The intersection will remain closed until the asphalt dries.
It was only a six-inch water main, but Mullen said “it can really blow a lot of water out.”
She also said that public safety is a priority, so the intersection will remain closed until crews are completely satisfied with the repair.
