SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health reported 590 new COVID-19 cases Thursday and one new death.

There have now been a total of 19,374 cases in Utah, and the new cases represent a 3.1 percent increase from Wednesday.

The total number of deaths stands at 164. The latest death is described as:

  • A male, between 45-64, Salt Lake County resident, not hospitalized at time of death and unknown long-term care facility status.

There have been 34 new hospitalizations since Wednesday's report. There are currently 170 COVID-19-positive patients being treated in Utah hospitals.

There were 7,316 new tests reported since Wednesday. However, that number is likely high because several days of negative results were added Thursday. 312,053 people have now been tested for COVID-19 in Utah and the percentage of positive results is now at 6.2 percent.
