OGDEN, Utah — The Fremont High School football team will miss out on this season's playoffs after the entire team was placed in quarantine due to multiple players testing positive for COVID-19.

Due to the 14-day quarantine rules, the team must forfeit its playoff game against Copper Hills scheduled for Friday. The game will not be rescheduled according to Utah state rules.

Coronavirus rules mandate entire teams, classes or other school groups to be quarantined if three or more members test positive.

The players who tested positive do not qualify for the shorter 7-day quarantine introduced last week because they were not wearing masks during the exposure period.

Copper Hills automatically advances to the second round of the playoffs due to Fremont's forfeiture.
