Health Dept.: 1,738 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Utah, up 63 since Monday

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Health's latest COVID-19 counts show there are 1,738 lab-confirmed cases in Utah.

That's an increase of 63 cases in Utah since Monday's case counts were released.

So far, the Health Department has received confirmed test results for 34,647 people. About five percent of those test results were positive.

148 of the 1,738 people who tested positive for COVID-19 in Utah have required hospitalization - a hospitalization rate of about 8.5 percent.

13 people have died of COVID-19 in Utah.

In the State's daily coronavirus press conference, Gov. Gary Herbert addressed the importance of healthcare workers, as well as the impact that the pandemic is having on the economy.

"Those people on the front lines... are doing a lot of good work," Herbert said. "We are also simultaneously seeing what we can do to mitigate the economic crisis."

He urged small businesses to apply for loans.
