KEARNS, Utah — A bullet grazed a six-year-old Kearns girl’s foot as she slept in her bed early Friday morning.

Just after midnight, the bullet penetrated a wall at a home in the 5700 block of Westslope Drive, according to Sgt. Melody Gray with the Unified Police Department.

“Went through the house, wall of the house next door, through the headboard of a little girl and her pillow and ended up striking her in the foot," Sgt. Gray said. "Luckily minor injury to her foot, mostly bruising.”

Investigators believe the bullet came from a house next door where an argument was taking place.

Sgt. Gray said six people were in the neighboring home when the gun was fired.

"It took them a while to get them to come out of the house," Sgt.Gray said. "Officers used a blowhorn asking them to come out and after some time they did come out but we haven’t had a lot of cooperation so at this point we don’t know who fired that round so no arrests have been made yet.”

A neighbor from another home said his family was sleeping at the time but he did hear gun shots and immediately went to check on his son in the other room. Luckily his family was safe, but the man said when he looked outside he did notice a little commotion in the neighborhood.
