SALT LAKE CITY -- Jazz player Donovan Mitchell made a generous announcement Friday on Twitter, saying he'll be donating the first $45,000 in shoe sales to the children of Jacob Blake.

Blake was shot several times by police in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Doctors say he is now paralyzed after bullets severed Blake's spinal cord and shattered at least one vertebrae. Benjamin Crump, his attorney, said: “It will take a miracle” for Blake to walk again.

"In today's climate our actions mean everything," Mitchell said in a video posted to Twitter. "People all over the world are asking the same question: 'how can I take action?'"

Mitchell took action by announcing that the first $45,000 in sales for his new shoe line would be donated to Blake, with a matching $45K coming from Adidas, who partners with Mitchell on the shoes.
