GRAND COUNTY, UTAH — Yesterday, the Grand County Council, along with the Southeast Utah Health Department extended the requirement for face coverings until December 31, 2020.

Their intent was to "ensure a coordinated implementation of practices which slow the transmission of COVID-19 by providing Grand County residents, businesses, community organizations, visitors and government with access to the information needed to implement those practices," according to the public health order.

The order also requires that all individuals in Grand County wear a face mask that covers their mouth and nose when in a public space where social distancing can't be maintained.

Exceptions to this mandate include:

  • Children under 2-years-old
  • People with a medical condition, mental health condition or disability
  • Individuals who are hearing-impaired and depend on lip reading
  • Workers whom wearing a face mask would create a risk related to their work
  • People obtaining a service that has to do with their mouth or face (dentist, doctor, etc)
  • Restaurant goers, while they are seated at their table
  • Individuals who have to provide facial identification
  • People who are alone in an indoor establishment or facility

In addition, the public health order says businesses that require a face covering while inside have to post a notice in a clearly visible location.

The order expires at 11:59 pm on December 31, 2020. For more information about COVID-19 guidelines click here.
