Magnitude 3.1 earthquake rattles south central Utah Thursday morning

SALT LAKE CITY — A magnitude 3.1 earthquake rattled parts of south central Utah early Thursday morning, according to the USGS.

The earthquake happened just before 5:00 a.m. and was located about 18 miles east-northeast from the town of Boulder in Garfield County.

That's about 108 miles from Cedar City.

An earthquake that size is considered minor according to the USGS. One of that magnitude is often felt but rarely causes any damage. If it does the damage is minor.
