MURRAY, Utah — Murray City planners are studying a small area between the Fashion Place Mall and the Fashion Place West TRAX Station. This is just one of several small area studies the city has done, is doing or will do, Melinda Greenwood, Community and Economic Development Dir. of the city of Murray, said.
“It’s such a high used transit station. We have the light rail that goes over there, we have the blue and the red line. It’s the furthest south location where those two lines interconnect,” she said about the Fashion Place West TRAX Station.
The area being studied is about a one-third mile area between the mall and the TRAX station. There is no clear plan for what the city is envisioning for the area, because Greenwood said they want the people in the area to decide.
“What we really want to do is create a plan based on their vision, their information, their feedback
use that as foundation and basis for the plan,” Greenwood said.
The plan is in the very beginning stages, with the first meeting held last month. The goal is to have the plan completed by summer 2020, Greenwood said. The plan likely wouldn’t be implemented for 10-20 years, as this is a long-range plan.
