SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office has found the use of deadly force justified in a January officer-involved shooting.

The shooting happened near 1460 W. North Temple in Salt Lake City.

The suspect, 20-year-old Tyler Webster, suffered minor injuries.

Police at the time said Webster was driving a stolen car, and when confronted by officers, he put the vehicle in reverse and hit a curb and guardrail. One of the officers then tried to subdue Webster with a stun gun, but was unsuccessful. Police said he continued to rev the engine while one of the officers was between the open passenger-side door and the guardrail.

District Attorney Sim Gill walked through officers' body camera footage Friday and said it shows how the officer in question tried to use his taser before using his gun.

Webster faces charges including assault against a peace officer, theft and failure to respond to an officer.
