Utah Highway Patrol has reported responding to 135 crashes between 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and 8:15 Sunday morning.
Overnight conditions, including high winds, caused ice to form on I-15 near the Point Of the Mountain. The freeway was closed for nearly an hour after multiple crashes due to those conditions, and as Troopers responded, they reportedly saw at least one crash involving 10 vehicles.
Authorities tweeted out a reminder to give yourself ample time and space when driving in winter conditions.
As a reminder we plead with you to slow down when the weather changes. Give yourself extra room all around your vehicle. Plan ahead with blankets and water in your car. Make sure your tires are in good shape. And if we haven’t mentioned it yet SLOW DOWN!
